DayTrip will give you a glimpse into the life of a young artist and drug dealer/addict trying to survive in Los Angeles. Beyond the obvious obstacles of trying to pay rent and balance relationships, the real challenges lie in the protagonist's ability to tame his own pride and ego struggling to find a successful path in 2 careers where success is not universally defined, we see the main character (Burtis) Have to make a number of difficult decisions in a 24 hour span, that he feels will define the type of man he is.

Message from the creator

This short film was only possible through the sacrifices and determination of this cast and crew. During an uncertain time in our history (October 2020) this crew of under 20 people got together and worked on a project because they’re passion and love of creating would not allow them to do anything else. There are many styles the young filmmaker and team explore in this film. Experimenting with different lighting and camera styles, the growth is evident even through the course of the movie. This is intentional, as the audience gets more acquainted and comfortable with the movie so does everything about the film itself. We wanted to simulate the effects of acid through the visuals and audio in the film. Mainly because we felt it’s never been done justice in most movies. Music videos play a heavy inspiration in the special effects and even structure of this film. Music has a time and place in movies and at times it can seem forced. Unnatural music can be a major distraction for me personally. Trying to truly separate musical parts of the film from dialogue is another intentional decision we as a team made. This film was shot only with iPhones and had a budget of $2,000.
